HomeFront is a community based, volunteer driven home repair program that provides FREE repairs to low-income homeowners, thus enabling them to remain in their homes with an improved quality of life. The St. Patrick Homefront team started in 2007 and has had over 150 members over the last ten years. The Homefront ministry is sponsored each year by the parish and is led by our team leader, co-leader and volunteer coordinator. The team works with the Homefront organization to select a recipient to benefit from our help each year.
Homefront Day is the first Saturday in May each year. May 2, 2020 this year. The majority of the team will work on this day and volunteer anywhere from a few hours to the whole day. The team meets twice before work day to discuss the project details and start matching work assignment with volunteers.
Volunteers are needed for a variety of assignments. This includes volunteers to organize and coordinate refreshments for the team. Volunteer workers bring a variety of skills to the team; including window washer, yard workers, do it yourselfers and seasoned licensed professionals. This includes electricians, carpenters and experience painters, chimney sweeps and siders.
Due to the improvements the team takes on, volunteers have the opportunity to work before and after the “official” work day. Many volunteers will work several days and many hours to complete the work each year.
